It is extremely fallacious to think that all children show the same physical effects when they are in some kind of substance abuse. Actually speaking, children are much more capable to sustain health problems from drug and alcohol abuse than adults are.
The reason behind this lies in the fact that their bodies are still growing, and in this adaptive period of their life, their bodies will likely take up the substance as a requisite part of their constitution. That is the reason why most children may be consuming alcohol or even some drugs like marijuana and still not displaying any visible effects of the drug addiction.Generally, children who are abusing alcohol can be quite easily identified if they have bloodshot eyes and the characteristic red nose. They will also slur their words and will be unable to stare at something for a long time. If they have been into the alcohol habit for long, they will not be comfortable in bright light too. Drug addiction in children could affect their appetite. They may feel lethargic and home and they may have severe memory retention problems. They will not be able to concentrate on what is being told to them.
Of course, these problems are quite generic. They are not seen in all children. In fact, some children have such a high resistance to addiction that no symptoms will be seen. But that doesn’t mean that they will not develop the health problems that are related with the two addictions.
